Tonight saw the first official Corp fight club with the winner taking home a 'Worm' kindly donated a few weeks back by one of our Veteran players.
The other rules of fight club not inspired by the movie:
- T1 frigates only.
- T1 Rigs only.
- T1 and T2 modules allowed.
- All ammo types allowed.
- Players must have a 'point' in one of their mid slots.
- Players warping out must return within 2 minutes.
- Your decided frigate cannot be changed, only re-rigged. 10 minutes will be allowed for this.
- If a player doesn’t return within an allocated time rule then they forfeit the match.
- The fight ends when a player surrenders or the ship enters structure.

The prize up for grabs |
Tonight's match saw 7 rounds of fighting take place with the winner of each round being awarded a single point. These points would eventually form a cumulative total giving a grand winner at the end. The ship of choice it would seem was the beast that is the Rifter. Since the start of the year I've been trying to get good with this ship as it requires far more juggling of modules then any Caldari frigate hull I've ever flown. Not to mention a whole host of different ammo types to get to grips with.
Round 1
Me - Rifter Vs. Adidasler - Tristan
For this first round I immediately turned on my DCU and got in close using an AB to draw range before entering into a tight orbit around the Tristan. As i circled I set the scram, guns and nos on target and began to chip away at the Tristan's shields. My own ship's were slowly beginning to approach armor and so I turned off the ab to save on cap ready to cycle my armor rep to keep the incoming damage under control. My dps and damage tanking paid off with me taking the first match win.

The Tristan at work |
Round 2
Caldobar - Rifter Vs. Spiounos Plsoglentzidis - Rifter
As I watched from the side lines both ships entered close orbits around one another with Spiounos's Rifter throwing out huge damage making short work of his opponents shields. The structure shortly followed giving Spiounos victory in this round.
Round 3
Caldobar - Rifter Vs. Adidasler - Tristan
This match I must admit I could only monitor for a short time as both ships quickly moved out of my stationary rifters target locking range. The round was quite drawn out with a good fight from both parties. However, Adidasler eventually broke through the Rifter's shield and armor giving him victory.
Round 4
Spiounos Plsoglentzidis - Rifter Vs Me - Rifter.
Feeling naturally nervous and excited at the chance to take on our CEO's alt, I charged for the same 1000m orbit as before. After some intense juggling of modules Spiounos's rifter cut through my now failing armor repair (cap issues on my part) as I only just began to approach his armor hp. In hindsight when I saw the ammo struggling to bring his shields down I should have reloaded with EMP and started overheating before I was on my last 25% of armor.... *sigh* The match point went to Spiounos.

Rifters were the most popular choice for pew-pew antics |
Round 5
Caldobar - Rifter Vs. Adidasler - Tristan
Re-rigged and juggled the Rifter went up against the Tristan once more. Trying to keep range the Rifter followed in hot pursuit taking damage from the Tristan’s missiles until eventually closing enough range to allow the guns to hit. Once the Rifter caught the Tristan the match was soon over with Caldobar taking this victory.
Round 6
Caldobar - Rifter Vs. Me - Rifter
This time loaded with EMP ammo I approached my target in the same tried and tested manner as before. Both ships were ammo fitted for a close quarters match it would seem and our guns came to bare at an orbit radius varying between 1 and 2km's. Cutting though his shields quickly I soon began to struggle with breaking his armor tank. Trying to keep my cool I turned off my guns and loaded in some more Hail ammo. I could tank the incoming damage but with my cap ever decreasing I wasn’t sure. Overheating my three 150mm autocannons I managed to just break into structure, claiming the match point.
Round 7
Me - Rifter Vs. Adidasler - Tristan
Knowing that he had used speed before to try to keep range allowing him to deal maximum damage I immediately approached the Tristan turning the overheat on instantly, boosting the Rifter to just over the 1000m/s mark. Taking damage I plowed on through the flack knowing that if I could bare range I could web, nosferatu and get the armor repair on. After a tense fight to close distance resulting in me nearly completely burning out the AB I broke the Tristan’s tank and took a final victory.
Final Scores
+1 - Caldobar
+2 - Spinous Plsoglentzidis (retired early, but would have most likely won!)
+1 - Adidasler
+3 - Me
With a bit of luck, excellent tutoring, dedicated skill training and numerous hours spent sparring with Adidasler, I somehow managed to win myself a lovelly new ship.

HMS Cock Puncher did me proud |
The most amusing thing is I don’t have any Gallante frigate skills so I cant actually fly it yet....something I will remedy very very quickly in the next 24 hours. This new toy has got lots of plex running to do in combination with my Cheetah. On a more serious note, my thanks to everyone that was involved in tonight’s shinanigans. Hopefully we'll see some more faces getting involved soon at the second official fight club!
Over and Out.
